Performers

APPLYING TO PLAY:

The Cellar Stage is programmed by musician Ruth Theodore and a small team at River Rat Records.  Headline acts are generally invited to play.  Anyone applying to be a headline act will need to have a national or strong local following.   If you’d like to perform and want to get in touch please send a demo submission or link to your work to Ruth via the facebook page for consideration. We will try to get back to everyone but the venue is growing more and more popular so please be patient.

EQUIPMENT AND INSTRUMENT HIRE:

If required we can provide; full drum kit (bring breakables), guitar amps, bass amps and powered DI boxes. Since most musicians will prefer to use their own gear, use of the venue gear needs to be agreed at least 7 days ahead of the performance date so be sure to get in touch and we’ll most likely be able to help.

LOAD IN AND SOUNDCHECK:

Load in is from 5pm. There is free on street parking at the front and rear or the venue from 5:30pm.  Sound check will generally begin from 6pm unless you have made other arrangements in advance. Please read the venue specifications above in advance of your performance and bring with you any equiptment that is not included in the list.  The loan of equiptment is possible IN ADVANCE so please get in touch and hopefully we can sort you out.

HEIGHT RESTRICTIONS:

The Hyde Tavern dates back to the 1500’s so the ceilings are therefore typically low.  Upright bass players play in the cellar regularly and we love the instrument,  but players please be aware that you will need to be gracious and cooperate with the surroundings and not blame the engineer please! Likewise very tall performers may prefer to sit.  We’re sorry for the inconvenience but it must be embraced as part of the charm of the space since it is such special building.  Some of the doorways are also low so PLEASE MIND YOUR HEADS coming in and out of the venue.
